HONORABLE MENTION at reFocus Awards 2024
I am deeply grateful and happy to have received another Honorable Mention for one of my artworks, in this case at the Black & White Photo Contest of the reFocus Awards 2024 in the Professional Portrait Photography category. These recognitions always mean a lot to me. I try my luck in many contests knowing that thousands of people, among which are really good artists, participate and always feel lucky when I receive an award, considering the other participants. I entered my entry last May with my artwork Introverted Reverie and have been waiting for the contest results until now, the wait was worth it and it has given me great joy! The artwork is part of my ongoing series Portrait Poetry.
My artwork has been selected among others by Gary Hershorn from ABC News, Oscar van der Voorn from GO Gallery, Paris Chong from Leica Gallery LA, Karin Mueller from Conde Nast Publications Ltd, Maia Murphy from Phaidon Press, Megan Wright from SAATCHI ART, Aaron St. Clair from Shutterstock, Lauren Katz from Getty Images, etc.
Self-portraits are intimate reflections that offer a unique journey into the depths of self-discovery. They are more than mere representations of physical form; they are mirrors that reflect the inner landscape of the creator's mind and soul. Through the art of self-portraiture, artists confront their own image, exploring the complexities of identity, emotion, and existence.
Accompanied by poetry, self-portraits become lyrical meditations on the nature of being. Poems weave through the imagery of the portrait, illuminating the hidden corners of my soul and inviting viewers to contemplate the universal truths that lie within.
Together, self-portraits and poems form a profound dialogue between creator and audience, inviting to explore the boundaries of self-expression and empathy. They remind us that in the act of creation, we confront not only our own reflections but also the shared humanity that binds us all together. In the intimate dance of art and poetry, we find solace, inspiration, and the timeless beauty of self-discovery.
