  • The state of alarm decreed by the Government to face the expansion of Covid-19 has forced citizens to remain confined all or most of the day at home. This is a potentially stressful situation, firstly for the reasons that have led to these drastic measures, and also because of the uncertainty of not knowing how long the situation will last. There is a first psychological effect that occurs in this type of confinement situations due to a crisis that is, paradoxically, a certain tranquility. This is because the citizen perceives that something is being done to control the crisis, whether it is a massive terrorist attack or whether it is a health epidemic or a natural catastrophe. In the midst of the chaos, something is being done and we can also take refuge in an apparently safe place that is our home. As for the negative effects of social isolation, it can produce post-traumatic stress, confusion and anger. Stressors are associated with increased quarantine duration, fears of infection, boredom, frustration, inadequate supplies, insufficient information, financial losses, and stigma.

As human beings that we are, life in society is marked in our genetics as one of our basic traits that has driven us to overcome the danger that other animals and hostile nature once posed for the survival of our species. Although we live alone, almost all of us seek to maintain direct contact with other human beings on a daily basis, so being suddenly deprived of this treatment can be very difficult to assimilate.

A psychological aggravating factor that increases stress and anxiety levels for all of us is that this confinement has not been sought. While it is true that we can understand and accept it without reluctance, for the common good, it is also the fact that we have not had the possibility to choose it for ourselves. For many people who choose to live in solitude, but who are socially very active, confinement has meant an abrupt and involuntary cessation of all their social activities and of all direct contact with another human being. Psychological problems may soon appear and lead to an internal fight of various feelings.

    Self-portrait Project.

  • Can I ask for my print to be framed?

If you wish, the art print can be framed at an additional cost that must be paid through PayPal. To do this, you must contact me by writing to info@jaquelinevanek.com. You can specify what type of frame you want or you can ask for my suggestions.

I will be happy to advise you based on the photograph you have chosen. If you buy the framed art print, it will be shipped flat, with a wooden support that protects the glass and wrapped in cardboard and bubble wrap. This will included in the additional cost.

If my purchase is a gift, can I request a dedication?

Of course you can! Please write to info@jaquelinevanek.com specifying the order number and the name of the person you want the note to be addressed to.

  • Packaging

Depending on the size, the prints are shipped rolled up in a tube or in a rigid envelope. In both cases, they are protected with onion paper and/or bubble wrap, some gloves are attached that I recommend using when handling the prints.

    Shipping Time

Since I contract third parties for the production of the works (a printing company and a transport service) and all prints are produced on demand, I cannot establish a fixed time, but an approximate one. The approximate time for you to receive your order after sending it is 2-3 weeks under normal conditions depending on the shipping location (extraordinary conditions could be, for example, restrictions due to a storm, vacation periods, etc.).

  • It is very important to avoid direct contact with sunlight. If you exhibit the artwork in a room, it must be protected by glass or methacrylate with UV protection. The work should never be touched directly with the hands in order to avoid leaving traces of grease or moisture. I always recommend using cotton gloves.

If you want to frame it, the materials must be acid free as well as the passepartout. If the frame is made of wood and is in direct contact with the photo, it must be made of natural wood and without varnish. Adhesives should also be acid free. If not, any other adhesive could leave yellow marks and deteriorate the support.

Store the work in a cool, dry place preferably at a room temperature between 10º and 30º with a relative humidity between 49% and 60%. If you have acquired more than one photograph, they should never be touched between them since the surface is very sensitive. You should always put a tissue paper or, at least, another soft paper between the both of them.
